Shop around. Check prices, but also take the time to look at the photographers work. If you don’t like what you see, keep looking, this is one of the most important days of your life, and it should be preserved well. Just because a photographer is inexpensive, does not mean that he or she is the right choice for you. Many, good part-time photographers advertise by word of mouth, so ask around. Boutiques, wedding planners, caterers, officiants , florists and other brides are great sources to try.

Let your guests take the reception pictures. Hire a photographer for group shots and to photograph the ceremony, but pick up some disposable cameras for candid shots during the reception. Many photographers charge by the hour, and receptions can last for a long time, so let the professional take the important pictures and the guests will have a great time taking candid shots of each other and

Call your local newspaper. Often the photographers at the newspaper are willing to shoot area weddings. If not, they should be able to give you some ideas on who to call. If you have tried everyone you can think of, this is another good option to try.

Consider asking a friend or family member to make a video of the ceremony. If having a professional video of your wedding is important to you, this is likely not an option for you, but, if you are like most brides, you likely won’t watch the video more than once or twice. It may be more beneficial to you to have a friend do the video and spend a little more on photos instead.
